Fira or Thira is the capital of Santorini. Located on the cliffs offers panoramic views of the caldera, the sea and the volcanic islands. Fira is full of stone paved little streets, where you can find all kind of shops, small caffes , and restaurants . Fira is a very busy place, and all the banks, the post office, and all public services are located here. You can also see the old port of the island, currently used only by cruise ships, which you can access either by the cable car, or on foot by walking down the 650 steps.
