Akrotiri excavations, have revealed one of the most important prehistoric settlements in Europe. Inhabitation of this site, goes back to the 4th millenium B.C. !! The sophisticated draining system, the multi storey houses, the beautiful wall paintings, the artifacts and the furniture found, indicate a prosper and developed settlement. The ancient city had connections and trade relations with the mainland of Greece, Crete, Cyprous, Syria and Egypt. The biggest volcano eruption in history, has destroyed this amazing city, and dramatically reshaped the island of Santorini. The eruption volcanic materials have covered the entire city, and preserved it in a very good condition. The whole excavaion site is covered, and operating as a hugh museum, making it possible for visitors to explore the ancient city,
